Whew, finally. I can't believe it's already Friday, almost a week since this lil festival that could chugged into Austin and blew up the spot. What am amazing event!
Shout out to everyone involved as I feel this festival is not only a welcome addition to the Austin musical landscape, but a much needed experience for people who may or may not know the depth and breadth of Latin music.
It ain't all salsa, that's for sure. Every group I saw throughout the day brought their own thing to the table and totally killed it. Not a sleeper in the bunch.
Anyway, I assembled my crew, and hit the fest midday, just in time to see Brownout!

Excerpts from the Austin community meeting hosted by the Austin Center for Peace & Justice on May 19, 2010. Community members came together to collaborate on community concerns, questions and action items surrounding the City of Austin's failings on transparency and accountability regarding the killing of Nathaniel Sanders II last year at the hands of an Austin Police Department officer.
Governor Rick Perry is the gift that keeps on giving. First he's the highest and most visible government official to date to publicly state that our great State of Texas should secede from the rest of the union. I guess at the time it made him feel like some sort of edgy, rebellious guy, but sadly his buffoonish remarks made our great state the laughing-stock of the country.
