With the rapid introduction of cloud computing, both by third party vendors such as Google, Amazon, and Microsoft, combined with the coming explosion of ultra portable, always connected devices is fueling another round of data center growth and innovation.  However, with data center operating expenses growing to be 7x those of the upfront server’s capital cost, coupled with increasingly obsolete data center infrastructure, all of which is driven by power requirements from server consumption, power delivery and cooling, the economics of this utopia are becoming challenging.

Moderator:
Charley Dean, Partner, Silverton Ventures
Speakers:
Jim Clishem, President and CEO, Active Power
Kevin Egan, Infrastructure Architect, Scalable Computing & Infrastructure Division, HP
