Thousands of phone calls, emails and letters flooded the office of Governor Rick Perry who seemed unmoved and unphased to grant Hank Skinner a stay of execution so he could get DNA testing to prove his innocence. Its a claim he has always made since the 1993 New Year's eve triple killing of his then live in girlfriend Twila Busby and her two adult sons.
Why Perry wouldn't use common sense and simply allow testing is beyond many of us. I guess he wants to keep up the sordid reputation of this great state for being home to a killing factory. Nevertheless, the Supreme Court issued an indefinite stay one hour before Skinner was set to die. That's major considering how as of late the Supreme Court hasn't quite been on point with their latest rulings... Nope, we haven't forgotten how they gave corporations unlimited powers to partake in elections. Nor have we forgotten that last year ina 5-4 decision the Supreme Court ruled that prisoners DO NOT have a right to DNA testing. Many of us are still shaking our heads at that one. With all that being said, we'll applaud them and take this latest decision to spare Skinner's life. We urge President Obama to get some of those backward thinking judges replaces ASAP. We'll work on replacing the governor who should've and couldve acted sooner.
We should also note that the Supreme Court did not agree to look at the case immediately. They are going to take more time to figure things out. For those who are unfamiliar with the Hank Skinner case, take a look at this video interview below.
