Jasiri X has released a video called “What if the Tea Party was Black?” http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZtH7vH4yRcY
The Hip Hop artist says that he got the idea when Paradise Gray, a member of the pro-black rap group X-Clan, forwarded him a copy of Tim Wise’s article. “I saw the article and I liked the concept,” says the rapper. So Jasiri hit the studio with producer Cynik Lethal while Paradise grabbed his video camera and they went on their mission to defeat the Right Wing propaganda machine.
Tiger Woods, Tiger Woods, Tiger Woods - What have you done? Word of his sordid affairs is all anyone can talk about. From coast to coast on every single local and national newscast, squeaky clean Tiger Woods cheating on his wife is the lead story. Sadly, we’ve seen this film w ay too many times.
Each week my man Jasiri X comes with heat. He’s covered almost every major topic impacting our community from, the police shooting of Oscar Grant and the uprising in Oakland, Ca, the racist presidential campaign launched by Sarah Palin and John McCain, the Inauguration of Barack Obama, and the brutal slaying of Chicago honor student Derion Albert. Name the topic and Jasiri X has covered it... This time he out did himself... Dear Debra is incredible... Please pass this along to Debra Lee of BET...

Big shout out to Jasiri X for stepping up and doing this video and song. (See video and his article below.) He has the right message and understanding. Far too many people think this is solely about Van Jones the person and not Van Jones and the people he represents. What I mean by that is this... President Obama said that he wanted to surround himself with a variety of voices that represented the rich tapestry of this country. He said he wanted to hear from everyone - all sides.
Pittsburgh Hip Hop stars, Jasiri X and Paradise Gray who are die hard Steeler fans, explain who is really America's football team. Is it still the Dallas Cowboys or now Pittsburgh which just won its 6th superbowl?
Now that the Jena 6 case has come to a close with the final 5 members pleading no contest to a misdemeanor (remember the original charge was attempted murder) and having to serve no jail time, I have a few thoughts on the whole experience. First of all I am thankful this situation has come to a close for all of the families involved.
