It's sad that we live in a day and time where common sense is always trumped by the need to make a quick buck. Don’t get me wrong, I am by no means suggesting that Chris Brown is trying to make a quick buck, but I have to agree with the folks who are calling for Chris to fall back, take a breath and get some help. His seeming eagerness to return to the fold and repair his image seems to defy common sense.
This is a bad look for Hip Hop on a number of fronts. First this comes on the heels of Chris Brown being sentenced to five years probation for viciously beating Rihanna last February, who his girlfriend at the time. We are now learning that court documents reveal Brown had laid hands on Rihanna on three other occasions. One would think that all of us within Hip Hop would be above and beyond reproach with such incidents. All eyes will be on 50 Cent to see how he addresses this scenario even though he wasn’t cited for any wrong doing. This took place in his house and will undoubtly cast him in a bad light. Many women will be looking to see if he speaks out about this violence.
In a video that appeared online late Monday afternoon (July 20), Chris Brown has apologized publicly for the first time about the domestic altercation that took place between him and Rihanna earlier this year.
In the clip, obtained by MTV News, Brown, dressed in a red long-sleeve shirt with buttons on the front, spoke directly to the camera and apologized to his former girlfriend and his fans.
